Among the many topics of the thesis, a student who wants to study landscape genetics and macroecology as well as the influence of urbanization on plant-pollinating interactions or genetic diversity can find a choice.

The workgroup also meet with the students at the Eco Fair organized by the Department of Botany. The purpose of the fair is to present the scientific directions of the different workgroups and to provide an overview of the topics of the thesis of the Bachelor and Master.

"Predominantly, the students asked about the working group in general - as we are a pretty new workgroup, they wanted to know what we were working on. At the same time, a couple of students took an interest in the study of Estonian pollinators, the pollinators living in the urban environment also spoke," said Rafael Somelar, a master's student who represented the working group at the Eco Fair. "A student of informatics also wanted to know whether there would also be a topic for an IT student in our workgroup."

"Very nice and curious students were! It was nice to see that many had a target in sight of themselves - know what they wanted to explore and see an opportunity to realize it in our working group," cheered Epp Valdaru, junior science in pollination ecology. "The great thing about our working group is that we are so-called interdisciplinary and botanists can engage in their pollinator's interest and entomologists can learn more about the plants. It seemed to appeal to students, too."

The research carried out in Pollination Ecology Workgroup focusses on various aspects of the relationships between plants and pollinating insects. We explore these fascinating plant-pollinator interactions in ecological and evolutionary space, through the lens of plants as well as insects, in the field and in the lab, at local and landscape scale, in Estonia as well as internationally.

The topics of the bachelor's and master's thesis offered by the workgroup can be viewed on the homepage.

The Pollination Ecology Workgroup, led by Associate Professor Tsipe Aavik, is looking forward to join the undergraduate and graduate students.
